Clay Pot Bunny Vase

It’s time for my first post!

I received flowers as a thank you gift at work on Friday and thought it would be fun to create a cute Easter-themed vase to hold them. I was able to find all of my supplies for the vase at the dollar store, with the exception of a few items I already had at home (likely purchased from the dollar store in a previous visit).

I looked online and in magazine for inspiration for my Easter-themed vase and combined a number of ideas to create my clay pot bunny centerpiece. This project was extremely simple and would be a great craft for individuals with children also!

My completed clay pot bunny vase.

Let’s get started!

Supplies:

  • Clay pot
  • Pencil
  • Paints
  • Paint brushes
  • Ribbon
  • Glue
  • Easter bunny ears (I used clips from the dollar store)
  • Flowers

Directions:

The first step is pretty simple, let’s paint a base coat on our clay pots. I decided that my bunny was going to be white so I painted two coats of white paint on the clay pot.

Once the base coat was dry, it was time to add the bunny’s face. I’m not a strong painter so I decided to sketch the face of my bunny onto the clay pot with pencil before I started painting.

I used the smallest paint brush I owned and painted over my pencil marks. This was actually easier than I thought it would be. My hands were shaky but I was happy with the outcome.

Once dried, I glued ribbon along the top of the clay pot (like a headband). I decided to use super glue to ensure it held well. If you’re making this craft with children, you could help them use super glue or try a regular white glue to hold the ribbon.

I was originally planning to make ears from felt but couldn’t find the colours I wanted at the dollar store. Instead, I spotted these cute bunny ears (for clipping into hair I assume). I ripped off the clips and glued the ears onto the ribbon.

I added the flowers into the vase and voila, my clay pot bunny vase was complete!

Thank you for joining me on my first post – I look forward to sharing more craft ideas with you soon!
