Nice title, huh? My mother-in-law is a cat lover to say it mildly. She has a cat hotel, she has a cat charity and every Spring she takes in a Mommy cat so that she has kittens to play with and find forever homes for. Needless to say she has a LOT of cat things. Trying to find something unique for gifts is difficult.
When I was looking through the Stockade catalogue one night, I found wooden bangle blanks. I bought one, not really knowing at the time what I was going to do with it (add to the “stash”) or who I was going to make it for.
A light bulb went off in my head one night…. why not a Crazy Cat Lady Bangle? I thought out what I wanted to do and made it the other night. I do wish I didn’t put the sparkles on it now, and still might sand it down and reseal it to get rid of some of them, but I think it has a sort of art deco look to it? Maybe?

Here are the steps I took to make it! First off, the supplies, of course! (Supplies for one of my next 8 to 100 projects too)
The first thing I did was base paint the bracelet. My mother-in-law likes earth tones and I wanted it a little bright so I painted it a Mustard Yellow colour.
Now, because my eye-balling abilities are a bit skewed right now (PCS), I wrapped a tape measure around the bracelet to mark off where I wanted to centre the cat heads.
Then came the first fun part. Drawing the cat faces in with pencil. I tried to make them all a little bit different so it wasn’t boring!
Next is to base paint the cat faces. Would you believe I could only think of 4 colours to paint them???
Next is the best part. Personalizing each cat face. I did a few tabby cats, some black cats with white spots, calicos, orange cats of course and so on. Just have fun with this part. There is no wrong way to do the face, it’s just whatever you think they should look like.
I drew the eyes on in pencil after the rest of the face was done. I thought it would be easier than trying to free hand it.
All you need to do now is seal it. In a previous post I told you what my favourite sealer is, but use whatever is your go to sealer. You now have your very own Crazy Cat Lady Bangle to wear or to give!
I hope you have as much fun personalizing your Crazy Cat Lady Bangle as I did!
