Dyeing Wool – Part #2

First, let me start by saying thank you to all of you who were so quick to pass out the compliments on my first attempt at dyeing wool, as well as a special shout out to https://craftysurf.com/ for the suggestion to try Kool-Aid on one of my future attempts.

Secondly, let me say that my excitement over the success of my first attempt has been rather humorous to Chris, although he did say if it makes me this happy to keep it up! So, I will, but first an update on the wool dyeing progress and after project!

Once my wool was fully dried…. I ended up bringing it inside when it got dark and Chris hung it from one of the ceiling fans to finish drying over night. (It provided quite the décor lol), I had to rewind it.

This time I rewound it around only 2 legs of the table to make a smaller ball, but if I do keep doing this, I am definitely going to invest in a wool winder, even if it’s just a cheaper version! Maybe something like this one I saw on Amazon!

This is how my wool looked after being rewound. I decided to call this one “Watercolours” because that is what I think of when I look at it!

I, of course, then decided I had to find some sort of project to showcase my newly dyed wool!  I chose to take the easy route this time and I am just making a slouchy beanie for someone for next Christmas, or for our soon to be Etsy store.

I don’t have a whole lot done at this point but I still wanted to update this post and show everyone how the wool is working up so far!

Isn’t it great?  And even my crochet hook matches lol!  I can’t wait to see how this beanie looks with a nice big pom pom on top when it is done!

I will update this post one more time once my beanie is completed.

    • Lol, I will tell him to keep laughing, and yes, I have seen how much the specialty dyed wool costs. That is actually what made me ponder trying it. I was looking for a Calico coloured wool for a project and could only find it for $30 a skein!!! How crazy is that? That is next up in my dyeing adventures…. I just promised myself I would at least complete one project with wool I dyed myself before trying anymore colours!
Thank you for the compliments and we are all in this together… shout out/support wise… so you are very welcome! I am so loving this blogging community!
