Last night I finally tried a dump cake recipe that I found on Pinterest, courtesy of http://www.cupcakesandcutlery.com/cherry-pineapple-dump-cake-recipe/ and I have to admit it was really, really good.
I just could not wrap my head around how something like this could work and be delicious at that. It smelled so good while it was baking, I think both Chris and I might have been drooling a bit waiting for it to be done lol! I still had my doubts at this point that it would turn into anything other than a sweet smelling mess… boy was I wrong! Now I have so many thoughts going through my head about what else I could “dump” into a cake pan like this and enjoy!
I will do a quick run down of what I did but the “recipe” is on cupcakesandcutlery’s website at the link above!
Here are the whole 4 ingredients I started with!
I layered everything according to the recipe. Full can of crushed pineapple with juice, full can of cherry pie filling layered on top of that, sprinkling the cake mix over top of the cherry pie filling and finally pouring a whole cup of margarine (the recipe called for butter but we never use actual butter), and I tossed it into the oven and hoped for the best!
And this is what came out of the oven. A wonderful smelling cherry/pineapple dessert with a really nice texture considering how it was put together!
