I finally decided to try the Millionaire’s “No-Bake” Pie recipes I have seen all over the internet. I tried the recipe I found here: Millionaire’s Pie
At this precise moment, I am wondering if it was a big mistake but I will update later as to if it was a good experiment or bad lol.
This is what it looks like at this point.
Here are all the ingredients to make this pie. Thankfully it is a No-Bake pie!
You begin by making the graham crumb crust pie shell.
I mixed together the 1 1/2 cups of graham crumbs and 1/3 cup of white sugar in a medium bowl.
I added the 1/3 cup of melted margarine and mixed until it was crumbly.
Press it into your pie plate and refrigerate it until you are ready to use.
For the pie filling, I began by draining the can of pineapple tidbits and halving the whole small jar of cherries, making sure to reserve 1 tbsp. of cherry juice. Set aside.
Next, in a large bowl, I mixed together the condensed milk and 5 tbsp. lemon juice. I read the lemon juice is very important to how it will set. Fingers crossed!
I added the cherries, pineapple, 1 cup coconut, 1/2 cup pecans and 1 tbsp. of the reserved cherry juice.
Mixed it well.
Add the 1 1/2 cups of dessert topping.
And mixed this in. This is where I started to worry if it was even going to turn out!
I poured, and overflowed, this into the prepared pie shell. It ended up being a big sticky mess 😦
And then I set it on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper in case it kept overflowing and put it in the fridge to hopefully set.
I put the rest of the filling in a small bowl and put it in the fridge, also to hopefully set. If it turns out and it actually sets, I will “pile” the rest on top later on
It is supposed to be refrigerated for at least 3 hours, so I hope it thickens up and works!
I will add a pretty picture of a piece of the pie, if it sets up properly!
