Sweet Brown Molasses Bread Dinner Rolls

Isn’t that quite the title?  Let me say that these are well worth having a big ass title!  I found this recipe on Pinterest on www.itsalwaysautumn.com and even though I had pretty much already decided to go with the Fresh Dill Dinner Rolls I made last week as a test run I instead opted to give these a go.  Nothing like trying a new recipe a few days before a big meal, but at least I knew if they didn’t turn out I still had time to make more.

That wasn’t a concern in the least, they are delicious.  They smelled so good while baking that I actually burned my fingers breaking one open to eat it fresh from the oven lol!

I will document my step by step and post the link to the recipe at the end!  I hope you take a chance and try these, you won’t be sorry!

These are the ingredients required… and I am pretty sure I actually remembered them all in the picture… for once!

You start by adding the yeast and water to the bowl of the stand mixer and letting it bloom.

You add the rest of the ingredients, except for the whole wheat flour, to the bowl and mix it up.

Once that is all mixed in, you switch to the dough hook and start adding the whole wheat flour.  I think I used about 2 1/2 cups to get it to the right consistency.  I also have to admit that I was a bit concerned after adding that much flour because it still seemed too sticky to me but I didn’t want to keep adding more and more flour and ruining it, so I took a chance.

This is what my bread dough looked like after adding the whole wheat flour. You can see what I mean about it still seeming sticky, but not to worry lol.

I put it on a floured board and kneaded it a few times by hand, shaped it into a ball and then put the dough ball into a greased bowl.

I covered the bowl with plastic wrap, crossed my fingers and waited the hour rising time as stated in the recipe. Sure enough it doubled in size and had the right feel after rising.

I shaped the dough into balls and placed them on my parchment paper lined cookie sheet.

I let them rise for another hour, as per the recipe, and popped them into a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes.  Did they ever smell good while they were baking…. hence the burned fingers!

This is what they looked like when I took them out of the oven.  See the two little ones on the end, all by their lonesome?  Those are the two I helped myself to straight, and I mean straight, from the oven!  I couldn’t wait!

DELICIOUS!!!!  You have to try these dinner rolls!  I will definitely be making them again, and again, and again….. you get the picture!
