A few weeks ago my mother-in-law asked me if I wanted to go through a few things before she sent them off to the thrift store. In the basket were two little “silver” serving trays. I couldn’t figure out what I was going to do with them at first but then remembered I saw on one site or another where someone made similar trays into little chalkboards, so that’s what I decided to do!
Here are my two little trays and my container of chalkboard paint! You can find chalkboard paint at just about any craft or even dollar store, and it’s amazing what you can turn into a chalkboard to match any décor!
I started painting the trays. I knew I just wanted the chalkboard to be in the centre, so I started to paint them. I also knew it was going to take a few coats to fully cover so I just slapped a coat on every time I walked by and noticed the previous coat was dry!
Once I had enough coats, and it was fully dried, I decided to paint a few flowers and leaves to the top, just to fancy them up a little bit.
I tied some ribbon to one of the handles to hand them and I had myself two cute, repurposed chalkboards… likely for the craft room!
