Easy Fresh Fruit Salad

I’m back…. we got a bit busy outside… yes, I was gardening again but I also ended up not feeling well because of the heat and my own stupidity of not wearing a hat out when I was doing my planting.  I gave in and bought an ugly but effective hat from the dollar store so hopefully I can avoid this in future.

The weather has been so hot the past week that I figured it was the perfect time to make a few salads… one being this refreshing fresh fruit salad!

Here are the ingredients I used…. I think I even remembered them all for the picture lol.

To begin, I halved the grapes and then peeled the orange and halved the segments, placing them in a large bowl.

Next came the pomegranate, it’s been a long time since I have removed the fruit from one so I had to give myself a quick google reminder!

I took pictures as I went in case anyone else needs a reminder about how to deal with a pomegranate!

The first thing I did was to cut into the “flower” end of the pomegranate.  I inserted my paring knife and cut a cone shaped piece out of that end.

Next, I scored around the whole fruit, trying to place the scoring on each “flat” section of the fruit.

Finally I pulled the sections apart and tapped the skin side of the fruit to knock out the arils, before placing them in the bowl with the oranges and grapes.

Next I washed and diced the green apple and added it to my bowl.

I added the sliced banana, lime juice and sugar and mixed before serving.  We had a colourful and very refreshing dessert salad to finish off a nice BBQ dinner!
