Great Steak Marinade

As I’m sure I’ve mentioned before…. Chris LOVES steak. I swear he would eat it every day, although he doesn’t generally complain when I feed him chicken, pork, pasta, or, never mind…. he doesn’t complain as long as I keep him fed lol!

This is a quick marinade to whip up and tastes delicious! You could also use it on pork or chicken if you like but we use it on steak!


It may seem like a lot of ingredients go into it but it only takes about 5 minutes to whisk it all together. I picked up a couple of strip loin steaks for Chris and Dillon, pictured below but you can use any cut you want.


I put all the ingredients into my big measuring cup… except for the steaks of course… and whisked until well combined.


I put them in a large freezer bag on a plate to marinate in the fridge for at least 3 hours, turning them now and again.


We cooked them on the grill, only flipping it once (according to our Grill King Chris lol), topped them with some mushrooms and red onion I just cooked in foil with minced garlic and served it up with some roasted potatoes and veggies!

Great Steak Marinade

Preparation Time: 5 minutes Cooking/Grilling Time: 20 – 40 minutes


  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. chopped thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne
  • 2 strip loin steaks


  1. Pour all ingredients into large measuring cup.
  2. Whisk to combine.
  3. Place steaks into large freezer bag and pour marinade in.
  4. Let sit in fridge for at least 3 hours, turning every hour or so.
  5. Grill for about 10 – 15 minutes per side, until desired doneness.
