Roll Top Desk- Dump Rescue is Done!!!!

Yesterday I finished my Roll Top Desk makeover. If you are familiar with our posts you may have read the post last week, I think, about the desk we rescued from going to the dump.

I finished it and it’s now settled into it’s new spot in our home!

I am so happy with how it turned out! I’m just going to include a few before and after pictures.

Oh…. and I also finished my big cookie grams order yesterday. I am on a roll lol!

Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

I was getting ready to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies when I remembered I had some caramels in the cupboard that I should use up.  I used some of them last week when I made my Caramel Magic Bars and still had some leftover. And being in a somewhat lazy mood, I didn’t feel like actually going through the motions of making individual cookies so I baked these in a 9 x 13 baking pan and then cut them into squares to add to lunch boxes this week!

Glazed Orange Bundt Cake

This is the week I do my big order for Cookie Grams that I make every year before Christmas. My mother-in-law hands them out to her clients each year and they look forward to it every Christmas.  She always hears…. Where is my Cookie lol!

Knowing it is going to be a busy week I wanted to have some sort of dessert ready so I only had to cut off a quick slice to serve it this week.

This cake fit the bill… with it’s nice orange flavour and glaze, it is a delicious change from the norm of chocolate or vanilla cake…. and it’s easy to make! It is delicious with the orange glaze but next time I might try a chocolate glaze on it for a change!

Easy to Make Italian Bread

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a bread recipe.  When I make bread now I really wonder why I was so scared of yeast and making bread for so long.  I suppose getting a Kitchenaid mixer for Christmas a few years ago might have something to do with it but even so, when something went in my mixer, I still did make some loaves of bread…. by hand!!!

This is an easy recipe to make a delicious loaf of Italian Bread!

Brown Sugar Glazed Meatloaf

What a weekend!!!  Saturday I decided to clean and sort the storage under our basement stairs.  While it was a nice trip down memory lane, it was also a big crazy mess.  Thankfully Dillon was at home (part of the reason I decided to do it on a Saturday lol), so I could use his muscles to deal with the heavy stuff for me! It took all day Saturday and by that night and most of Sunday I could barely move lol.  Guess it’s all part of the growing old thing.  While I did accomplish what I set out to do, dinners on both days were more rush jobs than actual planning!

Saturday we settled for jarred pasta sauce with meatballs and pasta.  On Sunday I at least had the foresight to take some ground beef out of the freezer and was able to make this delicious Brown Sugar Glazed Meatloaf that I served with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans!

Roll Top Desk – Dump Rescue – WIP

A few weeks ago Chris texted me from work including a picture of a roll top desk he said some one was going to take to the dump. He asked me if I wanted it. When we got it, it was all painted with a flat white colour…. wall paint would be my guess and wasn’t all that appealing … but I figured a bit of elbow grease and a jar of chalk paint could remedy that! I had a book case I wanted to replace with something nicer and this desk fit the bill perfectly!

I am waiting for the wax to arrive and will update pictures once I get it and complete the desk transformation!

Cheesy Roasted Potato Slices

I have made this recipe on the BBQ using either aluminum foil or one of those BBQ cooking sheets when it came to the cheese part.  They work out just as well in the oven.

They are nice and crispy and cheesy on the outside the soft and delicious on the inside… a great side for any meal! The fact that they are quick and easy to make is just a bonus!

Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sliders

On the off chance no one has noticed…. Ranch and Buffalo flavours are a favourite here.  I have been meaning to make some sliders for a while now and finally got to it yesterday.  I used ground chicken as my base and added to it.  What could be better than some juicy, buffalo ranch sliders on toasted garlic bread buns?  I didn’t even have anything left for freezer meals lol!

These could also be cooked on the grill in better weather.

Caramel “Magic” Squares

I have had this recipe for years, and haven’t made it in years.  I am sure everyone has a version of the “Magic” squares recipe that they love and make over and over again.  This would be mine if I actually ever remembered about it when I feel like baking lol.  I did however make this recipe the other day for lunch box snacks and thought I would share the recipe.
