Polymer Clay on Mugs #2 – Cat Mug

Here is the second of the polymer clay mug I am in the middle of making for family Birthday gifts.  This one didn’t turn out “quite” as I had planned but it still looks like a whole herd of cats and that works for the recipient lol!

I started out the same as my Minnie Mouse mug with my stash of polymer clay and a dollar store mug.

I decided to do orange cats, black cats, white cats, brown cats and some tortie/marbled cats. To make the tortie cats, I broke off little pieces of the black, white and orange polymer clay and worked it until it marbled.

I freehanded the shapes of different cats to go all the way around the bottom edge of the mug.

I added a bit of texture to the cats using a small wire brush, faces and then whiskers using a sharp edge to finish off the mug.

I baked it in the oven at 250 degrees for about 1 hour and the clay had set!

As with the Minnie Mouse mug, I am still pondering adding a coat of varethane to give the polymer clay a bit of shine, but other than that it is done.
