Homemade Gel Air Fresheners

Here is a very quick project… less than 5 minutes to make and it will help your house smell great! I would usually buy something like this from the dollar store, but I find the scent never lasts very long. Now I just make my own and because you use essential oils, the scent lasts longer!

You can leave these plain, or you can dress them up however you want to suit your decor, the possibilities are only as endless as your own creativity!

This is what I started out with to make them. I did forget to put my food colouring in the picture but that is optional when making these.

To make these, you start by whisking the 2 packages of gelatin in a small bowl with 1/2 cup of hot water.

Next you add the food colouring (use as much as needed to reach the colour you want, again this is optional), 1/2 cup cold water and 2 tsp. of your favourite essential oil, whisking between each addition.

I poured the mixture between my jars. I mostly filled 2 x 125 ml jars and then partially filled a third.

Next I made a pattern by laying the lid on a piece of paper, followed by another lid from whatever you have that is about an inch bigger in diameter than the lid. Lay the pattern on the tulle and cut out the circles for the top.

Hold the tulle circles over the jar opening and then screw on the lids… and now you have some cute, great smelling gel air fresheners to place throughout your home!
