Cranberry, White & Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies

I wanted to make a batch of cookies with something other than just chocolate chips or raisins or that sort of thing. Then I thought….. why not make some with chocolate chips, but both milk chocolate and white chocolate chips plus dried cranberries (aka craisins lol). Add a little cinnamon to the cookie dough and they were delicious! A nice Fall version of the typical chocolate chip cookies!

And before I forgot about… I wanted to introduce everyone to “The Elusive Loch Ness Cucumber lol. I found this in my garden and mine and Chris’ first thought was that it looked like the Loch Ness Monster lol!

Redecorating- DONE!!!!!

It’s done… and so am I lol! 😴 It took me the whole week to get it all done… washing the walls in preparation for painting, filling any holes in the walls and then sanding them smooth, the actual painting, cleaning everything before putting it back up, pulling out the old rug, and then finally putting down the new rug! Dillon helped me do that yesterday!!!

When I was talking to Kim she asked me if I took a before picture, and I was like crap… why didn’t I think of that? So… I did the best I could and took a sort of “before” picture.

This is my “sort of” before picture. I couldn’t believe the difference once I looked at the pictures side by side. It looks so much brighter and fresher!

Sort of Before Picture

This is during the painting…

This is after I put all the furniture back in.

Here it is after we took the old rug out and washed the floor so it was nice and fresh before laying the new one. (I tied up the curtains so they weren’t in the way lol)

And here are my after pictures!!! The new quilt I got for the trundle!

And here are the rest taken from different angles.

Now I just need to wait for the new rugs to go under the dog feeding “station” and in front of the trundle, and I can rest lol!

Paint Pouring

The other day I finally tried that really cool paint pouring technique. Yes… it can be messy, but I made sure to have everything covered where I was pouring.

Maybe it was because I was only doing a small project but it wasn’t as messy as I thought it would be… and it was kind of fun!

This is what I started with.

I used my paper towel holder as a stand to hold the vase (that i gave a good cleaning to get rid of any dust from the store shelf)in place while pouring. I of course made sure it was well covered.

I poured the different colours I wanted to use into a disposable cup, one at a time. No mixing required.

And then I started to pour!!! I got Dillon to record the actual pour… sorry for the quality of video lol.

Then I just had to wait for it to dry.

While it was drying I cut some medallions similar to the back door rug I got to put on a little crate I painted to keep the stuff I like to keep beside my chair.

The rug

The vase took a little time to dry, but I think it was well worth it. The vase turned out pretty cool.

I gave it a coat of varethane, just to try to avoid the paint peeling off… and then my vase was done!

I love the look of the pouring pattern!

All and all it was a fun project to try and I know I’m going to try it again!

Baked Chocolate Donuts

Let me start by apologizing for being absent for 2 days… or is it 3? I am so exhausted right now I honestly can’t remember. I have tried starting this post twice now. Both times I literally fell asleep creating the post and until this morning haven’t been able to finish it. By the time I wake up from my unplanned nap it was time to get back to washing and painting the walls.

I am pleased to say that all the walls except for one section is done!!!! I was just so tired yesterday after painting that I decided to wait and do that section today when I start putting the pictures and such back in place.

Holy crapadoodle!!! I have spent the last 2 days washing walls! And I hurt everywhere lol… I guess part and parcel of growing old! Today is going to be pretty much a rest day. All I have planned is filing in holes with spackling before I paint tomorrow!

On Sunday I did some baking for lunches and these donuts were one of the things I made. They love homemade donuts… and I love the fact these are baked and not fried.

Busy Day Soup via www.sipalaw.net

I saw the recipe for this soup when I was looking on Pinterest, procrastinating about finishing washing the walls.

It looked so good that I wanted to share the recipe with everyone!

The recipe can be found at: https://www.sipalaw.net/2019/07/busy-day-soup.html

Doesn’t this look delicious? Definitely something I plan to add to our fall/winter soup rotation!

Redecorating!!!

I don’t know why I put it off for so long… although washing the walls might be at the top of the list lol… but I am finally redecorating our main floor!!! And I am so excited to be finally starting that I thought I would share it with everyone!

Right now our walls are green. Sort of a bright olive green that I am sick of looking at. We got some new recliners and I told Chris I wanted to get gray ones to spur me on to redecorate…. so gray it was. They are so much more comfortable that our old ones and have given me the prompting I needed to get started!

At this point, it is only pictures but pictures that I can see in my head as a complete picture and I can’t wait to see if it ends up looking as good as I want it to!

Here are the chairs we got…. nice and cushy and very comfy.

This is the colour I am painting the walls….

I got this big 10 x 14 area rug for a steal to replace the light green carpet that we have now… I liked the way it had the streaks and fade, sort of like the recliners.

I ordered plain gray curtains…. (that I still need to hem)

A new quilt for the trundle bed that’s on the main floor…

I got some new cushion covers and a nice dark gray fluffy throw to put on our burgundy couch to try to bring the gray into it. I am still contemplating getting one of those gray fuzzy pillows for it too lol!

And I got a new rug for the back door, where the kitchen is to bring all the colours together…

AND…. I have finally talked Chris into the fact that our old buffet would look so much better if I chalk painted it a dark gray lol! I can’t wait to start that project when everything else is done!

Jerk Chicken Wings (Baked)

I was making Pizza and Wings for dinner the other night and I can’t for the life of me remember if I have posted them before so I decided I would post it anyway…. just in case! I am pretty sure I have posted a regular jerk chicken recipe, just not wings.

Chris says these are the best wings around… and he is a chicken wing connoisseur lol. I make my own jerk seasoning/marinade, let the wings marinate in it for at least 6 hours and then bake the wings… yes… bake. And they are absolutely delicious! I used the Pizza Hut Copycat recipe for the pizza that I always use now and we had better than take out Pizza and Wings for dinner!
