My Christmas Preview

As usual I have made a long list of Christmas gifts I want to make…. especially now that Chris and I are grandparents. I thought I would give a preview of these in the hopes it will keep me motivated lol!

Kim found some pictures of ideas for me for her and hubby!

She found what is called a “Skoodie” that she would like and a skeleton scarf set! I wouldn’t mind one of those scarves for myself!

She found a few things for my son-in-law as well as something else I’d like to try…

This is what she found…

And I’d like to combine the next few pictures into a sword display. I thought I could use a wood burner for the fancy stuff on the blade

Now… for our granddaughter lol… I have already started on a fluffy hoodie for her with teddy bear ears… and I want to try making the pictures below on my scroll saw!

And finally, here are a few things I want to make for other family members. I thought I could again use the wood burner on the shield below.

Another long list of things to do. Hopefully if I start soon I will accomplish all of it…and anything else I decide on!

Wish me luck lol!

Crocheted Jellyfish Toy

I found the cutest crocheted jellyfish toy pattern on Pinterest that linked to https://www.yarnhild.com/en/crochet-ragdoll/. With my granddaughter’s love of aquatic life I thought this would be a perfect project to make for her! I ended up making one for now and one to put away for Christmas!

Crocheted Owl Lovey Blanket

I am very embarrassed to say that I started this blanket while Kim was still pregnant and just finished it the other day!!! I can’t believe it took me this long but I told myself the other day that I can’t get started on the things I want to make for Christmas until I get rid of my WIP’s!  This is one of a few more that I need to get done before I can start… and with their only being 4 months until Christmas… I had better get my butt in gear!!!

Fish Soft Toy

Let me start by saying my grandbaby loves fish for some reason… maybe the bright colors?

Yesterday I felt like making something but didn’t feel like embarking on a big, involved project. When I was trying to think of what to make I remembered the cute little knitting machine/loom Chris bought me for Christmas.

My original idea was to make a “tube” doll, the kind where you knit a tube of varying coloured stripes and sew lines through the stuffed tube to form the arms and legs.

Somehow I ended up making a fish lol. I guess the doll will be next!!!

As with the doll, I started by “knitting” a striped tube in the colours I wanted my fish to be.

I crocheted lips on the gathered end of the fish. I did 2 rows of slip stitch, single crochet, 3 double crochet (in the same space), single crochet, slip stitch, and this formed the fish lips.

Next I added fins. I single crocheted across 9 stitches on each side (10 for the top fin), and then worked single crochet rows with a decrease stitch at the beginning and end of one side to taper the fins until I got down to 3 stitches. I would the ends in and my fish had fins!

Next I stuffed the fish and crocheted closed the tail end. I ran a gathering stitch where I wanted the tail to start , and to hold the stuffing in.

I crocheted 2 little circles for eyes by chaining 2 and then working 7 single crochet in the second single crochet and then sewed a white line in the middle of the black circles.

I decided the fish needed something else, so I ran rows of single crochet around the fish where the colours of the stripes met.

And my Fish Soft Toy was done and ready to add to the fish collection for my grandbaby!!!

Hedgehog – Crochet Small Toy

While I was feeding my Pinterest addiction the other day, I came across a pattern for some really cute Bobble Stitch hedgehogs.  I know I have “scraps” of wool Everywhere and that I could find more than enough to try this pattern, so yesterday I grabbed some wool and crochet hooks and gave it a try!

The bobble stitch itself is fairly easy, it is based on single crochet… so if you can do single crochet and follow the pattern for the bobble stitch exactly it can open a whole new window of texture to your crochet projects!

I stuck with the pattern that I found at http://crochetstitchwitch.com/?p=337  exactly, other than adding one extra row of bobble stitch to the pattern after row #9, and I embroidered the nose and eyes on so I didn’t have to worry about anything falling off while in little hands.

Frilly Baby Washcloths

I wanted to make some pretty, frilly washcloths for the coming baby, probably to add to the ever growing shower gift lol!  These are easy to make once you have the pattern in your head and very quick… unless like me you decide to go overboard with the edging!

Pacifier Leash/Holder

I saw some really cute pacifier holders on Pinterest.  I looked around while we were out and found a bunch of suspender clips that would work perfectly for them.  I think I bought 6 of them so don’t be surprised if more of these show up in the near future lol!
